Duties & Responsibilities
Operations Specialist, BEIA Project, Winrock International
I provide financial and administrative guidance to pilot project grantees who are in several countries in West, South and East Africa.
I help the pilot projects implementers to execute their grants according to the World Bank’s guidelines and procurement procedures, and to have financial management procedures in place that would allow for possible auditing of projects on an as needed basis;
I support the pilot projects in preparing their quarterly financial reports according to World Bank’s guidelines; receive monthly and quarterly reports from each pilot project, review and compile the combined report to the World Bank.
Audit Manager, PKF Juba, Southern Sudan
I was contracted by PKF, an international Audit and Consultancy firm. PKF were contracted by the World Bank in Juba, Republic of South Sudan.
We were responsible for auditing the Government of Southern Sudan and the Multi Donor Trust Fund together with staff of the National Audit Chamber to build the capacity of the indigenous staff to perform audits on their own.
I performed the Audit of the National Government’s financial statements, several World Bank projects funded by the Multi Donor Trust Fund, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, several other Ministries (including Commerce, Cabinet Affairs and Investment), three state governments; (Warrap, Jonglei and Upper Nile), and the taxation department. The audits focused on supervision and development of different teams of staff from the National Audit Chamber.
I assisted in training and induction of staff of the Chamber at the Government Accounting Training Center.
Finance Manager, Hargeisa Beverage Industries, Somali Land
Hargeisa is the capital of Somali Land, an independent country that was formerly part of the greater Somalia. The company is the largest producer of bottled water and carbonated soft drinks in the Horn of Africa region, with seven brands of soda and bottled water in three sizes of PET bottles as well as twenty liter bubble top bottles for water dispensers.
I was hired to prepare financial statements for 2007 and 2008 and to set up finance, administration and accounting systems to enable the company to change from family owned business to a public company with local and international investors.
I prepared a new organizational chart for the Company and the department, with job descriptions for the finance team. I hired three new staff for the department, trained the staff and implemented the organizational structure. We installed a computer ledger and keyed in all transactions from 2007 to 2008. We produced financial statements for both years for presentation to the Board, bankers, investors and auditors.
Finance Manager, Rockworld Engineering
I was the first Finance Manager for the new construction and quarrying company started by the LinkSoft Group. We had several stone and aggregates quarries, we constructed flats and schools. We were subcontracted for part of the Thika Road expansion project.
I set up the finance department and steered the finance and administration department of the Company. I was responsible for project and company budgets, accounting, payroll, tax, monthly and annual reporting, debt collection, and supervision of finance and administration department.

I was the Head of Finance at the regional office that covered Kenya, Southern Sudan and other eastern Africa countries. We had several projects including a ten million dollar USAID funded project in Southern Sudan, a three million dollar Dutch Government funded scholarship program in seven countries in Africa, a FORD funded scholarship project and other projects in Agriculture, Business Development, Environment and Gender.
I was responsible for project budgets, cash flow projection, project financial reports, payroll, invoicing donors, and supervision of the accountants, logistics, grants and other administration staff. I prepared annual financial statements and all schedules for audit.
I started the finance function in all the Sudan branches in Juba, Wau, Yei, and Rumbek and I made regular visits to oversee the finances and administration of our branch offices. I still work for Winrock on a part time basis as a finance consultant.
Finance Manager, PACT
I was the head of finance, administration and grant accounting for the Africa office including project budgets, cash flow projection, project financial reports, payroll, invoicing donors, and supervision of the payment and receiving accountants. I conducted audits of our partners in Southern Sudan and the Africa region. Our largest project was a 8 million dollar USAID funded Southern Sudan program, and in addition we had other projects in environment, gender and capacity building of CBO’s.

I was responsible for planning, supervision and review of audits and performing consultancy assignments. The firm has a mixed clientele of trading companies, financial institutions, pension schemes and co-operatives. I performed audits of Equity Bank and several other companies, I conducted consultancy assignments for KETEPA, Cottars Safaris, Windsor Hotel and Golf Club, Western Seed and Grain and other clients.
Finance Manager, BAT Kenya , Congo and Egypt
I was the head of the Financial Accounting department which deals with reporting, general ledger, accounts payable, insurance, fixed assets, payroll, taxation, debtors statements, monthly and annual financial statements. As a result of my profitability analysis, production of several international brands was shifted from U.K. to Nairobi .
I handled the merger of two accounting departments in the Democratic republic of Congo, BAT Kinshasa and Rothmans Lubumbashi, including the introduction of an ERP. I was the first Finance Manager for BAT in Cairo, we set up the company from scratch and we had products in the market within six months.

I supervised preparation of all accounting records, monthly reports for transmission to U.K. , administration and human resources. I prepared the annual accounts and schedules for the Audit. - Accounting packages and Ledgers: I have used Tetra CS3 (an ERP), Sage, Quickbooks and a variety of other ledgers.
- Database: I currently use Microsoft Access. I have also used Fox-pro and paradox.
- Other: I am very good at Power Point presentations, internet applications, and programming languages including Basic and Fortran.
Hobbies & Interests
I enjoy reading, especially factual books, books on business and management and the Bible. I enjoy traveling, I play board games and enjoy social activities, swimming and movies.
